Vanilla yeast dumplings with stewed plums

Ingredients for 4 persons

400 g flour

50 g sugar

1 tsp. salt

20 g yeast

60 g butter, soft

1,5 dl milk, lukewarm

1 egg

Topping

2,5 dl milk

25 g butter

2 tbsp. sugar

1 tsp. vanilla paste

Icing sugar for dusting

Stewed plums

1 dl water

75 g brown sugar

0,5 tsp. ground cardamom

600 g plums - when in off-season, use deep-frozen plums or other frozen fruit as desired.

Preparation:

Plums: Bring water with sugar and cardamom to boil. Cut plums into halves, core, and quarter. Add plums to water and continue cooking at low heat until soft. Let cool down.

Dumplings: Combine flour with sugar, salt, and yeast in a bowl. Add in butter, milk and eggs and knead until soft and smooth. Cover and let rise at room temperature for approx. 1 hour.

Topping: Heat milk, butter, sugar, and vanilla paste in a pan. Add half of mixture to the caquelon.

Divide dough into approx. 8 pieces, roll into balls and place in the caquelon. Pour remaining topping over the dumplings. Place dumplings in the oven at mid-height. Turn on oven with 200° C. Bake dumplings at rising heat for approx. 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool down briefly. Serve plums with dumplings while still warm.
